Nutritional profile in breast cancer survivors

Objective: To analyze the nutritional profile of female breast cancer survivors by evaluating anthropometric indicators and body composition parameters. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study that aimed to characterize the nutritional profile of 30 female survivors followed at an oncology institution in Northeast Brazil. Sociodemographic and clinical data were collected, and body mass index and body composition were assessed by bioelectrical impedance, with calculation of the Fat-Free Mass Index and the Fat Mass Index. Results: The participants were mostly between 50 and 59 years old, with a high prevalence of overweight and obesity. A high percentage of body fat and muscle mass deficit were observed in all participants, and excess adiposity in most. Conclusions: It is concluded that there is a predominance of adiposity associated with muscle reduction, reinforcing the importance of continuous nutritional monitoring.
