Abstract

Objectives: The study aimed to characterize the sociodemographic profile and workplace of volunteer collaborators (VCs) responsible for Triatomine Information Posts (TIPs) in Ceará; analyze their perceptions regarding surveillance with community participation; and describe their knowledge about Chagas disease and its vector. Methods: This is a quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional, and exploratory study conducted with VCs from the state. A structured electronic questionnaire containing 23 questions was used. Results: A total of 397 responses were obtained. There was a predominance of women, greater participation of respondents aged 40 to 49 years, predominance of complete secondary education, longer time working as VCs between 2 and 5 years, and satisfactory knowledge regarding triatomines and Chagas disease. However, gaps were observed regarding participants’ training. Conclusion: TIPs are valued by collaborators; however, these actors require further training, and greater community engagement is needed.
