New Qualis tier of Cadernos ESP

2026-01-22

According to the results released on January 12, referring to the analysis of the 2021–2024 period, the publication edited by the Ceará School of Public Health (ESP/CE) moved from category B4 to B3.

Several factors were considered during the evaluation, such as the number of citations received in articles and other journals, indexation in databases that ensure visibility and international impact metrics, relevance to the field, as well as editorial and technical parameters related to publication regularity, geographic diversity of authors and reviewers, and rejection rate.

For the Health Research Manager at ESP/CE and editor-in-chief of the journal, Juliana Borges, the achievement is a “reflection of collective work and a constant commitment to scientific quality.”

Background

Founded in 2005, Cadernos ESP has published 19 volumes and 42 issues to date. The journal has also reached readers outside Brazil, from countries such as the United States, China, Singapore, and Portugal, for example. According to the editorial team, more than 344,000 accesses have been recorded over two decades.

Borges also highlights the democratization of access and the expansion of international visibility, in line with work centered on the production of knowledge committed to the guidelines of the Unified Health System (SUS).

Currently, article submissions to Cadernos ESP are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year, without the need to wait for the closing of a complete issue. Once finalized, the articles are made available online.
