THE EXPERIENCE OF PALLIATIVE AND CARING IN CEARÁ'S BIGGEST TERTIARY HOSPITAL

Abstract

Objective: To report the authors' experience in implementing and expanding the Palliative Care Service (SCP) of the largest public hospital in the state of Ceará. Methods: Descriptive, cross-sectional and qualitative experience report. Results: In 2014, the HGF SCP was created, which has 541 beds. Currently, the service consists of 16 professionals with 3 types of assistance (consultative, infirmary and ambulatory), in addition to continuing education. Final considerations: The study contributed to describe the steps to be taken be followed by teams that wish to implement or expand a hospital SCP that prioritizes a multiprofessional palliative care line.
